Black River Country Bank Awards Five, Class of 2024 Graduates with $1,000 Post-Secondary Educational Scholarships

Black River Country Bank is pleased to continue support and positively reinforce the academic and extracurricular achievements of our local high school students' educational careers and their future goals as they pursue their post-secondary education through a variety of educational Scholarships. Black River Country Bank has been awarding scholarships to graduating seniors in our area for over 30 years – initiated at Melrose-Mindoro High School, later expanding to Black River Falls High School, and in most recent years BRCB Ownership once again expanded the scholarship program Lincoln High School within the Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan School District. “It is one of the most joyful aspects about working in our family-owned, community bank … to be able to personally recognize and honor the talent and exceptional work of our local high school graduates who are often of friends, neighbors, and in some cases, even family. To be able to help financially support their post-secondary journeys is beyond rewarding. On behalf of our entire team at Black River Country Bank, we’d like to sincerely congratulate the entire Class of 2024, especially our five, $1,000 BRCB Scholarship Recipients.” stated Tracy Madvig, Black River Country Bank’s Organization & Business Development Officer. Collin Berra

Congratulations to Collin Berra, son of Kyle and Jami Berra. Collin is a graduate of Black River Falls High School Class of 2024 and recipient of a $1,000 Black River Country Bank Scholarship. Collin has been involved in numerous community activities, extracurriculars, and leadership capacities all throughout his High School Career at Black River Falls High School. Some leadership highlights include being the Captain of the Cross Country Team his Senior Year, serving in Leadership Club, and Treasurer of National Honor Society. Collin was a dedicated 4-year Track and Cross Country athlete throughout his high school career. He was recently recognized for his academic excellence earning Summa Cum Laude Graduate Highest Honors, while entirely attending Western Technical College his Senior Year. Collin has also been involved in Science Club, Tiger Investment Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Collin plans to attend University of Wisconsin – Madison for Nursing. “It’s been an honor to watch Collin mature into such a fine young man. We’re confident he will do great things! Congratulations and best of luck in Madison, Collin!” expressed Madvig.

 

Kallie Cavadini

Kallie Cavadini of Melrose-Mindoro High School, daughter of Sarah Cavadini and Tim Cavadini, was awarded a $1,000 Black River Country Bank Scholarship for Melrose Mindoro High School’s Class of 2024. Kallie has been very involved and has displayed positive leadership in her community serving as Miss Mindoro Second Attendant and Miss Congeniality. During high school, Kallie was involved in National Honor Society (Secretary), FFA (Treasurer), Student Council, and Drama. She also participated in Volleyball, Track & Field, and Soccer. Kallie works part-time at Black River Country Bank (while remaining on the Honor Roll) and is known for her welcoming smile. Kallie will be attending University of Wisconsin – Madison in the Fall, majoring in Communication Disorders, hoping to pursue a career in the field of Speech Pathology. “Congratulations Kallie! It’s been such a pleasure to watch you grow into a wonderful young professional (and great human!). We wish you all our best in your next adventures!” said Madvig.

 

Luke Fischer

Luke Fischer, son of Paul and Angela Fischer, was the recipient of a $1,000 Black River Country Bank Scholarship for Lincoln High School’s Class of 2024. Luke has been extremely involved throughout his high school career taking part in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Shooting Sports, FFA (Officer all 4 years of H.S.), 4-H (President and Vice President). He has also been quite involved in the local community, whether through the Jackson County Youth Ambassador Program or through the 4-H Skillathon and service projects, such as roadside clean-up or helping the elderly. Luke was recently named Lincoln High School's Valedictorian, being on the High Honor Roll all 4 years, as well as obtaining several Academic All Conference recognitions during his sporting career in in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Luke plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison, majoring in Civil Engineering. “We’re so pleased to honor and recognize Luke for his outstanding High School accomplishments. Best of luck as you head to UW – Madison to explore your passions!” shared Madvig.

 

Sophia Gonzalez

Congratulations to Sophia Gonzalez, daughter of Jill Framer, of Melrose-Mindoro High School. Sophia was the recipient of a $1,000 Black River Country Bank Scholarship for Melrose-Mindoro High School Class of 2024 and is their Class Valedictorian. Sophia has been very involved throughout her high school career and has been highly decorated within Academic Decathlon (leader and 4-year local, regional, state, and national qualifier), Band, Honors Choir, Solo Ensemble State Qualifier, Forensics State Qualifier, and Drama … all while remaining on the High Honor Roll all 4 years. Sophia has also been involved in her community through National Honor Society and Melrose Satellites 4-H Club. Sophia plans to attend University of Wisconsin – Madison majoring in English. “With an expansive academic and involvements resume like Sophia’s, we have no doubt she will continue to be a great success in whatever she sets her mind to. Good Luck at UW-Madison!!” shared Madvig.

 

Wyatt Madvig

Wyatt Madvig, son of Robert and Tracy Madvig, was awarded a $1,000 Black River Country Bank Scholarship for the Black River Falls High School Class of 2024. Wyatt has shown outstanding leadership within BRFHS and as well as the local community throughout his high school career – serving in roles such as Jackson County Youth Ambassador, Black River Memorial Hospital Volunteen, and Black River Youth Hockey Learn to Skate Coach, while serving as a Team Captain for 5 Seasons within his 4 years playing Varsity Golf and Hockey. Wyatt’s extracurricular involvement and leadership roles in National Honor Society, FBLA, FCCLA, Tiger Investment Club & Science Club stand out. Wyatt was a two-time Lions Club Honoree, BRF Youth Rotarian, and Coulee Conference (WIAA) Scholar Athlete selection for 2024. He’s obtained several All Conference recognitions for Hockey and Golf, as well as All State Academic Honors. Wyatt recently graduated Summa Cum Laude (Highest Honors). Wyatt will be attending the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities (Carlson School of Management), majoring in Finance. “It’s no secret that this recognition is ‘extra sweet’ to comment on,” expressed Madvig. “Wyatt has grown-up within our BRCB family and has always pitched-in, with a smile … just like he has done so passionately within our broader community and throughout BRF High School. We wish Wyatt nothing but our best as he continues onward and upward throughout his educational journey at the U of M!”
